f
I went to go see our minor league baseball team, the Legends, play last night with my friends F and E. F used to play for the Legends, but doesn't this season. I'm glad, because I had more fun hanging out with him in the stands than I would have had if he was playing. That's a little selfish, I guess, though. F is from the Dominican and has taught himself to speak english just by being in the states and listening for a few years - which is pretty impressive I think. He's really good at the language, but he misses some nuances here and there.
Last night we're sitting behind home plate. More specifically, we're behind the netting that keep stray pitches from flying into the crowd and I start thinking about how it must feel for F to be sitting in the stands instead of being out there on the field. So I ask him, "Is it hard for you to watch?" To which he replies, "No, it's just a net. I can see through it."
I wanted there to be that "waah waah waaaaahhh" trumpet sound that old tv shows used to play after somebody made a pun or a stupid joke.
It is actually really funny how sometimes you are thinking to yourself and then you ask a question that doesn't really make much sense to anyone except you because you have neglected to present the whole thing to the other person but expect them to know what you mean. I do that all the time.
In this particular case, I think it was the nuance of language as opposed to me being lost in my own head.
You are correct sir. I guess that just reminded me of that thing that i said at the top.
I hope you took time to explain the difference professor.
I schooled him on the gringo-speak.
