Batman Begins

I got home from seeing Batman Begins last night and started jotting my thoughts down. I realized a few minutes into writing that there was a column to be had. So instead of going into it all here, I'm just going to present you with the two lines from what I wrote that sum up my feelings best:

"Now that was a super hero movie! It was like the Citizen Kane of super hero movies. Well, if Citizen Kane was all about Rosebud killing Kane's parents and inspiring him to go get trained by ninjas and then spend his life fighting other snow sleds."

And

"My absolute favorite part of the film was seeing Katie Holmes halucinating and teetering on the brink of insanity after being abducted and drugged by a small, nefarious, somewhat efeminite man. Strangely enough that's also been my favorite part of Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood for the past month or so."

Look for the rest of my snarky thoughts in next weeks Patchworks at the Harlan Daily. Ha! I just plugged myself. But this time no trip to the hospital to remove anything!

it really was the best superhero movie i've ever seen.

dark, macabre, and they actually made Batman seem kinda scary, which is exactly the way he should be portrayed.

after the movie on the drive home, patrick and i made fun of the internet geeks who pissed at the storyline (which they thought was not faithful to the comic) before they actually saw the movie. when they do see the movie, they realize they've been tricked, as the storyline is indeed faithful. but, as per their nature as internet geeks, instead of being bitter about it, they're actually stoked that hollywood could "pull the wool over their eyes," so to speak.

trust me, it was a lot funnier last night, 'cause we did impressions and stuff.

We're hilarious in real life.

the depths of our comedy does not translate well to the web page.

Or outside of the two foot radius we're usually standing in.
