...

My ipod's not working. It keeps freezing up on me. I'm... I... I don't want to talk about it.

You aren't alone. Mine does the same thing.

Mine did it yesterday and today. And I can't turn it off. I have to wait for the battery to run down. I guess I'm gonna have to reformat it tomorrow after the battery's completely dead. What do you do when yours freezes up?

Lately mine has been doing one of two things. Sometimes when I am running, the song stops playing. When I look at the display, the songs start forwarding and eventually stop. The number of songs the iPod scrolls through is random and you just never know when it will stop.

As for the freezing issue...this one pisses me off. I have to do the same thing you do. I'm unble to power the damn thing off, and putting the charger on it doesn't even make a difference. Sometimes I've gotten lucky and it unfreezes, but that has only happed 4 times out of 50.

I wish I had an answer for ya. Perhpas there is a new firmware upgrade for the iPod. I don't know. Just throwing out suggestions. I understand what you are goin through though. It is a nuisance, and a pain in the ass.

This exact same thing happened to me and if you reset the ipod it should work. You do this by pressing and holding the menu button and the middle button at the same time. If that doesn't work then you will probably have to update it like James said for reformat it. If that doesn't work then you have to shell out $30 for Apple to fix it.

It's been a pain in my ass all day.

I kept trying to reset it and nothing would happen, but all the sites were saying that you toggle the hold button then hold down the menu button.

It wasn't until just now that I read Hardik's post that I found out I'm supposed to hold down the enter button too. It reset itself immeadiately, of course now I have to recharge it to see if everything is back to normal fully.

Thanks James and Hardik.

I'm interested to know what happens. I wonder if that works for a 3rd generation iPod. I'll have to try that next time the issue arises.

i was gonna get an iPod, but now i just don't know.

They're great until there's a glitch. Then all of a sudden you feel like everyone you know just died - except sadder.

I've been thinking of being crazy and getting an iPod mini so I didn't have to lug my huge ass iPod to the gym or to the track.

I use the iTrip for my truck. For those of you that don't know, an iTrip takes a radio frequency and plays your music out of your car stereo. I can't remember the last time I listened to a CD while driving. If you buy one, I recommend you get a car charger for the iPod cause the iTrip will drain it.
