last night
I know post about what I did last night are really boring for everybody and not the sort of non-stop, all out action you people come here for, but you can go screw. It's my blog and if I want to act like a teenage girl, I will.
Last night when I got home from the gym, I made myself dinner and then sat down to do some reading and writing. Right now I'm reading Neal Pollack's rock and roll novel, "Never Mind The Pollacks." My favorite line so far is, "One day, Commie Girl shot heroin on our fire escape, which overlooked a bleak lot where, every day, Chinese butchers slaughered anemic dogs." After reading for an hour or so I stared writing because, you know, how could you not read that and be inspired to write. I finished one column about this girl I used to know and made a lot of headway through a column on country music and why it didn't used to suck.
I also listened to music. My friend Sara has given me a metric ton of new music and it's taking me a while to get through it all. Last night I finally got to listen to a Bright Eyes CD she gave me months ago. I really liked it. I also listened to some of the new Coldplay (which was suprisingly good) and The Good Life (which I'm undecided on). I was skipping around all three albums randomly, but somehow my ipod managed to only pull up low key, mellow songs that went well together. I think my Ipod is haunted by the ghost of Cat Steven. Wait, is he dead?
Later that night I dreamed that my ex-wife showed up out of nowhere to tell me everything she hated about me. Then she left and my mom and brother did the same thing. It was really weird and not the kind of dreams I usually have at all. My friend Troy did a dream analysis over IM this morning and he says the most signifigant part of the dream was the absence of my father. He also said that it probably means P.Dirty is gay.
Have you listened to any Okkervil River yet????
Yeah, I have. I love them. Sara gave me a ton of their stuff, though, so I haven't had time to digest it all. So far, I love the songs: Black, Oh Precious, Red, A Song About Stars (I think that's what it's called) and The Okkervil River Song (Is that right?). Really good stuff. Also, good call on the Spectacular Fantastics. Those guys are great.
I heard about The Spectacular Fantastics from You Ain't No Picasso.
It's some 19 year-old's blog but the kid is on top of everything as far as new music goes. He actually goes to UK. You should check it out.
I checked out that blog. There's a lot of music on there I need to check out. Where will I find the time what with all my charity work and my Erotic Tai Bo classes?
