weekend
-Okkervil River was phenomenal. One of the best concerts I've ever seen. The lead singer looks nothing like his voice - until you've watched him singing for an hour then you can't imagine that sound coming from anywhere else. I've also never seen a lead singer work that hard. He was pulling every word out of himself from somewhere really far down and every syllable seem to shake his entire body on the way out. They were a fun band to watch. A lot of their music has a real melancholy vibe to it, but I don't know if I've ever seen a band having that much fun on stage. They were all constantly laughing and smiling at each other - like they were all friends and loved playing together, so that was nice. I went with P.Dirty and my high school guidance counselor Sara. They both liked it as much as I did. A friend of Sara's was there too. He liked it more than anybody - as evidenced by the sixteen pictures he took of the side of the lead singer's head. -Saturday night BP, Double S, P.Dirty, and I did a little unintentional bar-hopping. We ended the night at Kitty O'Shea's. Around 10:00 pm, the four of us walked out the door together for probably the last time. I could have cried. Double S did it for me.
-Sunday morning I spent the day helping BP get his stuff in a UHaul. I can't believe how much crap he and Double S have. We filled up a 20 ft truck and probably only ten percent of it was furniture. Somehow, eighty percent of the load was in boxes marked fragile. I don't remember everything in their house being made of glass, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, I'll be anxious to find out if it all got to Virginia unscathed.
this show was one of my favs. of all time.
Fav is one of my fav words.
if i could make a playlist of my fav words i would. but what would i name the playlist?
Good question. I'd call mine my "orites" because abbreviation is cool, but "fav" is kinda played out.
He won't admit it here, but P.Dirty just called me to confess that he looked at the world "orites" for two minutes and couldn't figure out what it was. He even looked it up in the dictionary. He was reading it as "oriteez" like it was a greek philosopher or something.
For all you other Canadians who might be having trouble, it's the second half of the word "favorites."
I hope you're happy. Explaining a joke robs it of all it's power.
i gues i won't be talkin' about your face then. EH?
Really? That's the reply you want to go with? Are you sure? Because I can delete that response and you can try again if you want. It's up to you really.
Ouch!
What was your favorite song?
For Real. It wasn't before the concert but since I heard it live I can't stop listening to it. Other really good ones live were: Black, Red, Okkervil River Song, Kansas City, Dead Dog Song, and Lady Liberty. If they come within 200 miles of you, go see them. It was such a good show.
They were touring with the Decemberists earlier this year during the West Coast part of the Decemberusts tour. That's a show I would have loved to see.
Something's holding me back from jumping on the Decemberist wagon completely. I don't know what it is. Maybe my huge genitalia? Anyway, you're the man that first mentioned Okkervil River to me - so when I kill myself you get all my stuff.
Sweet!
So I get a blue Dodge Ram, an Ipod, a house with no AC upstairs, and P. Dirty?
That's pretty much it. Use them well.
The blue on the Dodge Ram is really gay. You'll see this huge truck from a distance and you'll think to yourself, "Holy shit!!! That is a beast of a truck!" Then when it gets closer, you say, "I gotta get a truck like...wait...what color is that truck? Oh...gay blue. Well, if I do get a beast of a truck, it will be the same model, but not gay blue. Come to think of it, that big gay blue truck just ruined all trucks for me. I'm gonna go get a Neon".
When I visited, bp told me to tell you that the blue looked gay. I wouldn't have said that. I would have said, "Only a homo would get that color blue".
I really can't come up with stuff on my own. I'm a hack.
Well then get ready for my new favorite game: Smack the Hack. It's a lot like Smear the Queer except for instead of smearing a queer, you smack a hack. Although, in this case the hack is also a queer. Funny that.
