Anybody have any idea why WLEX chose not to show The Office last night? The little runner at the bottom of the screen said it was due to it's "graphic nature." I called WLEX and complained. Yeah, I'm a nerd. But seriously, I'm an adult. How about if they let me decide what I want to watch?
it was about sexual harrassment in the officeplace.
and while it was pretty dirty at times, the entire comedic premise of the show is the audacity and incompetence of the boss to run an entire workplace. to get offended at that guy for making sexist comments is to miss the fact that he is, essentially, being made fun of. he bears the brunt of the joke.
it would not be funny if the show/network actually stood behind the beliefs of the fictional character he portrays. in fact, that would be sad and a legitimate reason to refuse to watch/air the show. however, to not let the public watch it, is not only a fascism in practice but it is also quite patronizing, as it assumes the public is not intelligent enough to figure out that the show is actually making fun of sexual harrassment and anyone who commits it by relating it to the mental slowness of the main character.
for shame wlex, for shame.

I can't believe the Tree/BP fighting has spilled over onto my blog! Now it seems people are even choosing sides. When will this madness end?

WOW, LEXINGTON MUST BE THE BUCKLE OF THE BIBLEBELT! I CANT BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD DO THAT TO YOU!!?!?!?!?! PRETTY SOON THAT STATION WILL START RUNNING A BANNER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN THAT TELLS YOU WHAT TO WEAR,EAT,SAY AND THINK! DOWN WITH WLEX! DOWN WITH THE MAN (OR WOMAN)!!!!!!!!!!
Between WLEX deciding what constitutes wholesome television and our local government deciding recently that businesses don't get to decide what legal activities happen on private property, Lexington isn't really a place where personal freedoms are celebrated these days. But that's okay, life's a lot easier when you dont' have to make any of those hard choices for yourself.
