random pointless thoughts on elizabethtown
Went and saw Elizabethtown last night with Sara and E, in spite of the fact that both of them had already seen it. Apparently that's the power of Orlando Bloom. Actually, there were several disgusting and sexist remarks made about Orlando Bloom throughout the night. Women are pigs.
The movie was good. I'm still kind of processing it. I liked the concept. I liked the setting. I loved the music. I felt like some of the delivery was a little stiff but wasn't sure if it was the fault of the dialogue or Bloom and Kirsten Dunst. My favorite performance of the film was by Paul Schneider of All The Real Girls fame. The line, "This loss will be met by a hurricane of love" as delivered by Schneider has been bouncing around my head since last night. It sounded like a Cameron Crowe line to me. Of course that implies I'm really familiar with Cameron Crowe's work. I'm not. But it seem to have a similar cadence and feel to lines I remember from Almost Famous and Vanilla Sky.
My two favorite parts were seeing the Lawrenceburg/Frankfort Bluegrass Parkway exit and seeing, Kentucky natives, My Morning Jacket play Free Bird. Also - huge parts of this movie were filmed in Versailles, where I work, so it was a little sureal recognizing some of the scenery.
Your review - and assesment - is a bit different than mine LOL
Holy crap. I just read your review. A bit different to say the least.
did the movie pay any tribute to the rampant racism in Kentucky?
Only in the sense that there were no black people in it. Does that count?
jackpot.
not to mention people say we are a southern state and we are not...that always annoys me.
We are Central...we are Kentucky...not south not north...just in the middle?
