happy birthday

Yesterday was BP's birthday. He's 28. Just a child, really. He's going to see Okkervil River tonight. I'm very jealous.

I have high expectations for this show tonight after the glowing review you gave their Kentucky show.

If I leave dissapointed, it will be on your head and I will forever curse the name Patrick Lynn Drury.

Just a heads up.

It's a great show. Lots of character. There are lots of little bits I'll say to look out for. Like Will Scheff having to get down on his hands and knees to read his set list, to the band counting down one song in unison. I loved it. Another great bit when I saw them was P.Dirty getting wasted and staring at local floozies. That probably won't happen at your show, though. Because... you know... P.Dirty isn't allowed back in Virginia.

I have no idea what I am in store for tonight. I haven't listened to their music, I haven't visited their website, and I don't plan on listening to them on the way up to the concert. I will give you a review on my take of the concert tomorrow.

I look forward to your filipino-centric review.

i look forward to it too. it's a great experiment. i've prepared a tri-fold display board as james' backdrop at the show. he's gonna be a living, walking, science fair experiment. the title of the experiment you ask?

"Refusing to Listen: A Filipino's Unbiased Opinion on Okkervil River"

That may be the best title of an experiment ever.

My hypothesis:

Aquaman is a douchebag and the concert will live up to the hype.

You're sure to get at least "Honorable Mention" based on your title alone.

oh yes, i will be mentioned honorably.

jcsamsonite, a great man once said, "you go to hell and you die!"

It's like a science fair. I made a volcanoe out of clay, baking soda, and vinegar.

I grew mold on bread. Top that!

i grew a plant upside town, to see if it's molecular composition was strong enough to support its instinctive growth toward sunlight.

did i beat james' moldy ass?

Here is the setlist from their show last night in Philly:

The ending with Okkervil River Song is incredible. Seriously, it'll give you chills. That looks like a good set list. Request Dead Dog Song if they ask for request.

Kansas City live is really incredible. You think Will is gonna die.

ian,

you said that they did play dead dog song. please clarify.

They did, that setlist is from the show in Philly.

Here is the setlist from last night n no particular order:

Great show! I will not be cursing your name anytime soon Patrick, at least not because of Okkervil River's live show.

Red, Black and For Real were amazing but Westfall was probably the highlight of the night for me. They really kick some ass on that song! And you were right abou Will, that guy leaves it all on the stage. Great show, I loved it!

That's the greatest encore ever. Especially coming out of Westfall.

What song did Bryan call and hold up his phone during? I didn't recognize it.

it was during their soundcheck. will was playing the keyboards, if that helps.

That was "A Glow" from the new cd. It's the very last song.

The show was superb. I am now an Okkervil River fan.

Look! It's Del!

Holy crap!

Hey Del!
