best of 2005 - local

Favorite Restraunt
-Tandoor
The Indian people will always hold a special place in my heart for Chicken Saag. And their groundbreaking work in the field of stuffing bread with potatoes.
-Shang Hai Bistro
Best Kung Pow Chicken in Lexington.

Favorite Wine Bar
-Wines On Vine
I have a sentimental attachment to this place because it's where Sara and I went on our first date, but aside from that it's got a really great staff, nice wines, and a comfortable atmosphere. I have very little in common with probably 90% of the clientele, but I still feel at home there. Also, great music most of the time.

Favorite Bar
-Kitty's
I've been to Kitty's maybe once since this summer. Winter keeps me at home. I still love it, though.
-Shamrocks
Shamrocks gives Kitty's a run for their money because they serve food and they're not so Frat-tastic. Also, P.Dirty lives there so I know if I go there I'll see him.

Favorite Music Venue
-The Dame
It's really the only music venue worth mentioning in Lexington currently. It doesn't feel the same under the new ownership, though. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, though. It just doesn't have the same vibe.

Favorite Music Store
-CD Central
Duh.

Favorite Comic Book Store
-Comic Interlude
Kevin runs a great store. What it lacks in atmosphere it makes up for in stock. It's where I buy my weekly haul. He also recognizes my parents every time they make their once a year visit for my Christmas gift certificate - so that's nice.
-Collectibles Etc
What it lacks in stock it makes up for in Atmosphere. The campus location did a better job of stocking indie-stuff before it closed than the Richmond Rd location currently does. And shopping there is so much nicer now that the kid who wouldn't shut up about Dragonball Z doesn't work the counter anymore. There's a little too much nerd-loitering for my taste, but what can you do?
