catch up
-Here's what's going on in my life right this minute:
-BP and Double S are staying at my house. Double S is moving back to town for some schooling. She and BP are crashing at my place until student housing opens up. It's been nice having them around.
-I'm trying to pay off $14000 in debt this year. Actually, I'm just trying to pay off a little over $5000 this year and then $9000 next year. This is extremely doable, but it requires a great deal of concentration and budgeting. So that means I'm constantly doing math in my head - and my head wasn't really built for math. So that's why I'm always grimacing.
-I'm currently working on a project with my writing that I don't want to say too much about right now, but if it comes together (and there's nothing to stop it from coming together outside of me being lazy) it will fulfill a dream of mine and, hopefully, make me a little bit of scratch (very little, but still...) in the process.
-Sara continues to be more than I ever could have asked for in a girlfriend. She's incredibly beautiful, ferociously funny, and really, really brave.
-I have a huge pile of books that I need to start on which includes but is not limited to: Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover, Everything's Illuminated, Black Hole, and Kavalier and Clay. Sara and I burned through the second season of Scrubs in two weeks (we paced ourselves) and I'm trying to draw in a sketch journal every day.
On the horizon: Men's Weekend, my birthday, summer, Dave Ramsey live event in Louisville, volunteering in new areas at my church.
Of all your fantastic books in your stack, read Black Hole first so we can talk about it in our Reverb meetings.
I'm about halfway through Black Hole. I started reading it before I went to bed the other night and had to put it down because I got all skeeved out.
Is this Bret?
Don't forget to kick bp in the you know what for me.
You're just like Matlock with your keen mystery solving skills.
I got Black Hole for Christmas and thought it was pretty cool.
Bf
I like to think of myself as a young Angela Lansberry more than a Matlock.
I checked out your web page. Nice stuff. I'm still making my way through it. I plan on listening to some of your podcast later.
James, I kicked BP in the neck. Is that what you meant?
Yeah, I've been digging around through your site too and finding lots of cool stuff. I’ve noticed our media interests are very similar.
Hey do you have a girlfriend? Because if you do, you sure don't talk about her very much on your site. (That's known as sarcasm. Not many people know about it yet, but I think it's going to catch on real soon.)
Yeah, I've haven't done an episode of No Voice for Radio in some time but I’ve been meaning to fire-up the ol’ recording equipment again soon and do a new one. After you listen, feedback is always welcomed.
Yeah, I was really excited to see some stuff on your site like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Brian Wood, and MK12.
I almost picked up DMZ today at the comic store on your recommendaiton. I bought the first two issues of Local when they came out. Got what he was trying to do with the first issue but it didn't really click with me. The second issue was great, however.
I don't actually have a girlfriend, I just want people to think I do. That way the throngs of single women aren't always knocking down my door throwing their delicates at me.
I'll let you know when I've had a chance to listen to one of your podcast.
