I was listening to the ever-annoying Sean Hannity yesterday and he was whining about the press jumping all over Dick Cheney shooting that guy. What do you expect the press to do? The vice-president of the United States shot a guy! That's kind of a big story! And it's not like the press is accusing him of trying to murder the guy to cover up something - like all the right-wing nuts would have done if someone in Clinton's cabinet had shot somebody.

Some people are questioning why Cheney didn't report the incident immediately and why there are stories that someone blocked the local sheriff's department from investigating right away. I don't imagine for a minute that there's any kind of conspiracy going on, I just think Cheney is an elitist politician who thinks he's above such things.

Someone called into Hannity's show yesterday and suggested the vice-president be forced to take a hunting safety class. Hannity went off and started griping about how it was an accident and accidents happen and making him take a safety course was completely unnecessary. More elitism. If you're out hunting and you shoot your buddy in the face, it might be conceivable that you need to brush up on your safety tips.

When I met VP Cheney, which I actually did back around 2001, I reached out and shook his hand; and then the secret service agents pushed me back so hard that I fell on two people in the crowd behind me...Cheney should have shot those guys instead!

i'm not some media whore or nothing, but i've heard some reports that Dick had had some drinks with the guys before/while hunting. in this report, the officers were asked to come back in the morning. this report was inplying that they were trying to cover up his blood alcohol level. i guess there are laws that might change if someone was to accidentally shoot someone while drinking. (note to self - leave gun at home when hangin' with the hommies)

I heard the same thing dirty. I believe there were 3 hours between police visits.
