-Went with the Reverb planning team (well, some of them) to O'Neill's last night for something called Theology on Tap. It's a deal put on by a local Catholic church where a priest comes and teaches about the intricacies of the Catholic faith. It was interesting from an outside perspective. The topic was confession but the best part was when some chick with a ax to grind asked a question about why women can't be priest. I felt sorry for the extremely affiable priest who was taken off guard I think.
-Speaking of Reverb, I'm speaking there on 3/12. Hecklers welcome.
-My youngest nephew is having tubes put in his ears and having his adnoids taken out today. There's nothing about the thought of that that I like.
He rambled on and on about how the church, the world, and everything else kind of exist inside of this male/female framework. I saw where he was going but it didn't strike me as a particularly satisfying answer. He was, like I said, extremely affiable, and nice. I liked him. I don't think, however, he had the gift of making complex theology sound simple. He also kept encouraging everyone to just "trust the church" which threw up every red flag I own.
how many do you own?
Six, plus I had one of my brother's.
I know the thought of someone so little having surgery is scary but I wouldn't worry to much about the ear tubes.
Getting tubes in your ears is pretty common these days, they preform the surgery about 2 million times a year.
They don't hurt and eventually fall out after 6 - 18 months.
I don't know anything about having your adnoids removed but I'm sure there is nothing to worry about with that one either.
I had my adnoids removed as a child and look how cool I turned out. I'm a freakin' jeanyus.
Oh great...
Thanks for the reassurances, Ian. Talked to my mom yesterday and aside from a little nausea from the anasthetic, he's doing fine.
