bday recap

Because you demanded it!

The birthday was really nice. Woke up to sunshine and birds singing. Got to work and got a card from my mom and dad with a check in it. My mom wanted to give me something more personal but I told her my priority is debt retirement right now. She also baked me chocolate cupcakes, which I shared with the guys out in the shop.

When I went to the comic book store on my lunch break I picked out a few books and headed up to the counter. As I began to make out my check one of the clerks ran at me yelling, "Wait!" Turns out Sara had made arrangement for my comics to be paid for ahead of time. How sweet is that? If I'd known I would have picked out more books...

After work I went to Tandoor with Sara, E, & F. E & F got me the second season of Arrested Development, which I really wanted. They came over after dinner and had a cupcake. After they left Sara gave me my presents from her: The Walk The Line DVD, some of those Reeces Easter eggs (which I love), and a gift certificate for a massage. She also wrote me a really sweet note. Throughout the week I got lots of phone calls and emails from friends. I'm also having a small party this weekend. Thanks to everybody who went out of their way, or stayed right there in their way, to make my birthday a nice one.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! The absolute sweetest thing Sara did, was tell me that she actually tried to get Sunday Valley back together to play for my birthday party. It didn't end up working out on their side - but holy crap! Is that the world's greatest girlfriend or what?

Sounds like a great day. What comics did you pick up?

I picked up Batman Year 100 #2 which was freaking awsome and Superman/Shazam First Thunder #4 which had beautiful art and was a lackluster conclusion to a story. I was planning on picking up Body Bags: Three The Hard Way but they were out. They promised to track me down a copy, though.

Yep, Batman Y100 is the funk. I picked up Hard Time, Girls, DMZ, Exterminators, Walking Dead, and a few others but haven't read anything but BY100. How long did it take you get through this issue? This one read a little faster for me.

Today is your lucky day buddy. Through your recommendation, I picked up the copy of Body Bags yesterday. It was the only one they had. I'll send it to you. Consider it your birthday gift from me. Too bad my race is this weekend. I would have come out for your party. Curses!

By come out, I didn't mean come out. I meant my ass would have gotten in a car or plane and made the trip to Kentucky for your birthday.

That sucks that your race is this weekend. Thanks for offering to send me the book. You're the ginchiest.
