every christian sucks but me and you
One of the greatest compliments I've ever received for my writing is that I write like Donald Miller. Donald Miller wrote this great book called, "Blue Like Jazz." It's about being a real person and figuring out what it means to be a Christian.
Recently Mark Coppenger, a former seminary president, gave a lecture criticizing the book. The Burnside Writer's Collective gave Miller an opportunity to respond to Coppenger. The results are hilarious.
I wouldn't compare your writing style to Donald Miller. Maybe Donald Decker, the slow kid that sat behind me in my high school English class that I had to help all the time.
Anyway...
Speaking of Donald Miller he recently was interviewed by Relevant Magazine and they have released it as a podcast. The interview is broken into two parts on aired on two different shows. Screw you, I read Donald Decker's piece on Columbus. I found it pedestrian and lacking in style. I don't write like that.
Looking back that whole "the best compliment I ever received" thing makes me sound like an ass.
I'm listening to the lecture criticizing Miller's book right now. It sucks. It's too bad, I love the book but was interested in hearing someone make a reasoned argument against it. All I'm getting, though, is the conservative response. The guy is doing everything he criticizes Miller for, just, you know, conservative-stylee.
Also, he's attaching statements and motivations to Miller that don't show up anywhere in the book.
i started listening to the lecture, and then saw that it was 47 minutes long.
that's just bad theology.
i'm pretty sure that in the book of Malachi God said that no lecture should be longer than 43 minutes.

Aaah Fred, you're so naive. Don't you get it? Miller made it all the way to 31 and he's not a conservative yet. If he can hold out that long, every kid at that seminary might! Then what, Fred? THEN WHAT??

I haven't listened to it yet, but I really liked that book! I'm so weary of Christians calling out other Christians, bashing them, saying they suck and . . . oh wait-
