Thanks to the Colonel for the news: NBC is making 10 web-only The Office episodes for the summer.

why web only?
Probably because, from the looks of it, they don't feature Steve Correll or the other three stars (Dwight, Jim, & Pam). They're focusing on the rest of the Office staff, who according to the Colonel are actually mostly played writers on the show. So NBC goes with it's regular rerun centric Summer programming and puts these shows on the web since most casual viewers aren't going to tune in for an episode of a show that doesn't feature it's biggest stars.
