weekend
It was a log one.
-Friday: Went with the Colonel to see V For Vendetta. It was D For Decent, but a little too L For Long. And I wanted to S For Smack the N For Nerds on the front row.
After the movie we met Sara for some drinks and appetizers. Except the Colonel calls them "apps" which is an abbreviation for appetizers. Or an Abb, if you will. The Colonel is an humong idi.
-Saturday: I was scheduled to be the video director at church, so I decided to get there early, since I've never done it before. This was a decision that almost COST ME MY LIFE!!
As I was about to pull into church, I had to stop and wait behind another vehicle making a turn. Over the hill behind me came a speeding truck. He was flying and couldn't get stopped in time, so he slammed on his breaks and began a skid at me at a really high speed. I was watching all of this through my rear view mirror, waiting for the impact and my impending death. At the last minute, he veered off the side of the road and hit the guard wires attached to a telephone pole. He shot up the guard wires like they were a ramp and flipped his truck upside down, back onto the road behind me, inches from my truck. I pulled into my church, called 911 and ran towards the truck, wondering if I was going to see a dead guy. Luckily, the guy crawled out of his passenger window, carrying a little dog, and with nothing more than a scratch on his head. It was the most terrifying ten seconds of my life.
Later that night I had a small birthday party downtown at the rosebud. I was gonna post my pictures today, but the CD copies looked like crap. I'll get them up as soon as I get new copies. Thanks to everybody who came. I had a blast. There were a lot of blog folks there: The Colonel, Sara, P.Dirty, Lucy Lu, Adsprad, etc... Sara also tried to suprise me by having BP and Double S there, but delayed flights and lost luggage kept that from happening. It was really sweet that they all tried, though.
-Sunday: I was video director at church again. It was really fun the second time when I was a little more confident about it. At the Reverb service the band peformed A-Ha's Take Me On and dedicated it to me for my birthday. They rocked.
After church Sara and I went to lunch with the Colonel and then just chilled the rest of the day. All things considerd, including the near-death-experience, it was a great weekend. Thanks everybody.
