nerd glee

I mentioned a few months back that my favorite comic book writer, Grant Morrison, would be taking over writing chores on Batman. Well his first issue has been solicited:

BATMAN #655
Written by Grant Morrison
Art and cover by Andy Kubert
Variant cover by Adam Kubert
Comic legends Grant Morrison (ALL STAR SUPERMAN, SEVEN SOLDIERS) and Andy Kubert (Ultimate X-Men, 1602) come together for Part 1 of "Batman and Son." After a harrowing battle with the Joker high atop Police Headquarters, Batman decides to let Bruce Wayne step into the light. But just who is watching billionaire Bruce Wayne? And what does their plan have to do with Man-Bat? Retailers please note: This issue will feature two covers by Andy Kubert and
Adam Kubert (in approximately a 10:1 ratio). On sale July 26 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

Also out that same month from Morrison and my favorite artist, Frank Quitely:

ALL STAR SUPERMAN #5

Written by Grant Morrison
Art and cover by Frank Quitely
The Man of Steel is trapped behind the iron bars of a maximum-security penitentiary with Lex Luthor! Has Superman's archenemy finally succeeded in maneuvering his opponent to the wrong place at the wrong time? Find out in this thrilling installment of Grant Morrison's and Frank Quitely's All Star mega-hit!
On sale July 26 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

I look forward to upcoming Batman series with Morrison.

Plus how can you not love the All Star Superman series?!?

What else are you reading these days???

-Local by Brian Wood
-Batman Year 100 by Paul Pope (limited series)
-American Virgin by Seagle and Cloonan
-East Coast Rising by Cloonan
-Next Wave by Ellis & Immonen
-Goon by Powell
-Walking Dead by Kirkman and Adlard

I'm gonna pick up Five Fist of Science by Fraction and Sanders. I'll read the Punsiher book by Fraction that I mentioned a month or so back.

I'll read Busiek and Pacheco's Superman book that comes out the same month as the stuff in this post. I'll also read the new JLA once it starts.

I'm probably gonna pick up the first Loveless trade by Azarello and Frusin.

That's off the top of my head.

I'm reading Batman Year 100, All Star Superman, and all the silly DC Infinite Crisis and OYL nonsense. They hooked me and are slowing depleting my bank account each week. Damn their marketing department!!!

I've been checking out some Infinite Crisis and OYL stuff based on what catches my eye. For some reason I'm interested in checking out 52, the weekly series. Mostly for Morrison's contribution.

Understandable. Don't get any of the OYL stuff. I'll bring over what I have during MWK this year. After we talk about all that stuff, we'll do our comic book re-enactment. I decided that I'll be Black Lightning rather than Apache Chief.

Oooh, nice. And BP can be El Dorado.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

WE WON!!!

Not that anyone asked, but in a humble attempt to prove my nerd worthiness, I've been reading:

Local, DMZ, Batman Y100, Loveless, Jonah Hex, American Virgin, Testament, Exterminators, East Coast Rising, Supermarket, Walking Dead

I would say that I've been reading Supermarket, but I still haven't got the second issue.

Today I bought Justice 5. Slow day for me. I think I need to branch out and read what you guys read.

Today I picked up Next Wave. That's all. It was a sloooow week.
