lost season finale - spoilers ahed, you've been warned

Downloaded the season finale of Lost last night and watched it with Sara. This is the part where the Colonel pipes up and makes fun of me for buying the episode instead of streaming it for free of off ABC's website. And he probably has a point, but this was the season finale and I didn't want to take a chance on it stopping every few minutes because my computer is slow. Plus, if I download it we can watch it where ever in the house we want to. If I stream it, I have to be hooked into my cable.

Enjoyed the episode. There were so many little revelation moments that I kept getting faked out. Something would happen and I would be all tensed up waiting for the screen to go black and the little noise as the Logo appears. When it finally did happen I was a little disapointed. I think I get the signifigance of those two scientest calling the lady and telling her "we found it" but it's not really a nail biter. At least they didn't end it fifteen seconds earlier, though. Who wants to end on that hobbit dude kissing that girl? That would have been a totally unacceptable cliffhanger. It might be appropriate, though, as I read this morning that the third season of Lost will focus heavily on romance. And you know, thank God for that, because we wouldn't want them to focus on something important like TELLING US WHY ALL THIS WEIRD #@%&*$ KEEPS HAPPENING ON THAT @$%#&%# ISLAND!!!

There. I feel better.

The best moment of the whole season was last week when Sawyer blurted out to Jack that he "screwed" Anna Lucia. It was a nice example of how uncomfortable Sawyer is with emotional moments. The bit where he told Jack he was the closest thing he had to a friend seemed a little heavy-handed but made sense in a way.

There was one point during the season finale, right after
Sawyer shot one of the Others that was following him and Walt's rescue party, where I was overcome with love for the show and had to express it out loud. I was kind of crass about it but it felt appropriate in the moment. That feeling wained a little towards the end when we saw Jack, Kate, and Sawyer tied up on a dock surrounded by the Others and Henry Gale. It brought them a little too "out of the shadows." I know that's a strange complaint considering my comments above, but I really like the Others as this mysterious group out in the jungle. When you start seeing behind the curtain a little, it's a minor let down.

The thing I'm most excited about is finding out what the deal with those ruins from that huge statue are all about. Four toes! Just like my Uncle Phillip!

I noticed last night that Jeph Loeb, writer of lackluster comic books, has a writing credit on Lost. It's a small, nerdy world.
