nerd out

If you've ever had a friend who was into comic books and tried to get you to start reading them, he probably tried to get you to read Sandman. Sandman was a book by this writer named Neil Gaimen about this guy Morpheus (Sandman) who was responsible for everyone's dreams (he's the dude who made you dream you were bald, Aquaman). Anyway, I never got into Sandman. Little too gothy for me. But Gaimen is a talented writer. He's got a limited series coming out from Marvel, in which he and artist John Romita Jr. rework a classic Jack Kirby concept called The Eternals. The Eternals is a story about a bunch of space gods living on earth and battling a race of mutated freaks called the deviants. Clearly, this is real comic-booky stuff. But I love comic-booky stuff. And I love Kirby properties. Gaimen released an interior page on his site today:Clickum makum biggum.

I don't expect many of my readers to care about this, but that looks awesome.

your knowledge of comic book subculture never ceases to amaze me.

I was trying to keep it pretty reader-friendly there. I could really nerd out if I wanted to and just make everyone feel awkward and sorry for m.

see, that drawing kicks ass. i love comic art. i think it's pretty incredible. i just can't get into most of the fantastical stuff about it, the storylines, i mean.

Understandable.

when is it released? I'm ready.

p.s. You already know about Saturday being free comic day, right?

I think it comes out in June or July.

And yeah, I knew about Free Comic Book Day. Unfortunately, the free books usually aren't anything I'm interested in. The Colonel mentioned a free Scott Pilgrim book, but I was totally not impressed by Scott Pilgrim, unlike every other nerd I know.
