weekend - updated

Friday - Sara and I went out with ET and Vlad to celebrate Cinco De Mayo like the rest of the gringos. We ate at Chipotle and then wandered down to Kitty's for an hour or so. We had heard there was going to be a street party downtown, so after a drink, we got in the car and drove around looking for it. No dice, though. Apparently we were lied to. So we drove to Rincon and there was a small party out back in their parking lot. By coincidence we saw Double S. She and I reminisced about last Cinco De Mayo when Aquaman and I sat at the bar at a Mexican restaurant and made friends with the busboy. After that we went and played on train tracks for a while, because that was how we rolled back then.

Saturday - Went to a couple of comic book stores for Free Comic Book Day but didn't get anything, free or otherwise. Also went to CD Central and picked up a Townes Van Zandt cd, a Davendra Banhart CD, and an Avett Brother's CD. Combine those three with the Gnarles Barkley CD the Colonel gave me on Thursday and I had a lot of music to listen to. Volunteered at church for the afternoon. After that, Sara and I went and go sushi and then went back to my place to watch Old School. She'd never seen it. Girls...

Sunday - Volunteered at church in the morning. Then went with Sara to see ET's brother in a high school production of Grease. I'd never seen Grease all the way through so I had no idea it's moral was, "Turn the good girl into a whore and everything'll be okay." ET's brother was incredible. Seriously. He was really, really good. Sara said if she was still in high school she'd think he was the coolest guy ever, and sort of did anyway in spite of not being in high school. After that we went to Chilli's and then back to my place to watch the Sunday Night line-up. I also watched The Magnificent Seven without Sara. I'd never seen it. It's awesome.

Update - Also, on Sunday, Sara was singing along with this Fugees song and didn't think I was listening. It was the greatest thing I've ever heard.

Sounds like you had a good weekend.

Mine, not so good. Two sick girls = no fun for daddy!

I can't believe you hadn't seen the Magnificent Seven. Remind me to smack you the next time I see you.

What do you think of the Gnarles Barkley? I thought it was pretty good...can't listen to the entire album in one sitting, but it has its moments.

I'm really liking the Gnarles Barkley. A lot. So is Sara, who doesn't necessarily gravitate towards modern hip-hop/R&B/Rap/whatever.

Sorry you had two sickies. Sara said she saw Sally on Sat. morning.

I was excited to see Double S. It seemed fitting on Cinco De Mayo.

MWK will be epic.

Like my Beowulf Lego Movie. That was an epic based off an epic.

Of course MWK will be epic...I'll be there! Where ever The Colonel goes, greatness happen.

Let's get some practice in for MWK2. Finish these thoughts:

1. I can't wait to meet Aquaman at MWK2! When we meet the first thing I’m going to do is....

2. When P. Dirty talks about the diverse musicianship of a certain heavy metal Christian band, he sometimes uses...

3. Patrick is a...

OK.....GO!!!

I'll play:

1. rethink my previous stance on not making out with a guy the first time I meet him.

2. the phrase drop-d too much. But that's okay, I'd still make out with him.

3. god. I wish I was more like him. Or at least I wish I could make out with him. Even though he is super-hetero and totally not into that sort of thing.

Spoooooookeeeeeeeee.
