long weekend

Friday - Sara and I met ET and Vlad at Atomic Cafe. Ate out on the patio. Vlad found out he's been mispronouncing the word shrimp for some time now.

Saturday - Volunteered at St. Awesome's as video switcher. After church Sara and I went and saw Superman Returns. For my thoughts on that, scroll down.

Sunday - Volunteered at St. Awesome's again. Went out for Mexican food after church with Sara's family. Then took a awesome nap and watched TV.

Monday - Off from work. Got up early and replaced a bunch of landscaping stones with field stones in my front yard. Then planted some flowers. After that, Sara came over and we barbecued some ribs. Here I am being all chef-like:

Tuesday - Still off work. Hung out with Sara. Had some omelets. Went downtown and met the Colonel, Mrs. Colonel, and lil Colonel for the 4th of July parade. Here's what constitutes a parade in Lexington:
Some belly dancers,

a hot dog,

an old man,

And a utility truck. It's really inspiring. There was also a giant cow with a needlessly detailed udder sack:

Holy crap! What vein fetishist sculpted that monstrosity?

After the parade, Sara and I walked to her car. It wouldn't start for about fifteen minutes. Sara got reeeeeally cranky. Finally her car started and we went to Billy's Bar BQ. It was awesome. From there, we went back to my house. We had a couple of gracious offers for cookouts, but were both wasted from the heat. So we decided to stay home and watch fireworks (and listen to my neighbors scream at each other) from the tailgate of my truck:
