The Colonel slipped me some new music on Thursday. One was a cd by Grant Lee-Phillips and it's called nineteeneighties. It's a bunch of covers of eighties songs, but not the predictable Flock of Seagulls and A-Ha's. It's got a Pixies' cover, an R.E.M. cover, a Church cover, a Cure cover, and a lot more. It's nice.

The other cd he gave me was a David Bazan ep. Bazan used to be the front man for Pedro The Lion. I never really listened to Pedro The Lion in spite of my friend Kup being a big fan. I may have to go back and check them out, though, because this Bazan ep is one of the greatest things I've ever heard. I listened to it on the way to work this morning, and I almost never listen to music on the way to work. It's awesome. The Colonel had Bazan in his top songwriter's list over on his blog a few days ago. I totally get it now.

Also found out this weekend that the new TV On The Radio cd will finally be in store on August 1st (this tuesday). Finally.


Glad to hear you enjoyed the Bazan ep. I really like it too.

If you’re looking for some Pedro, I strongly suggest his albums Control, and It's Hard to Find a Friend. Both are excellent.  


I'll look into them. Thanks again for the Bazan. I can see it taking over my iPod for the next few weeks.

Well just so you know I went to pick up TV on the Radio today Aug. 1st and it isn't coming out now until some time next month. I think the 12th.  


The universe hates me, but my girlfriend loves me and tries to buy cd's for me. I win.
