more on mel gibson

I feel the need to expand on my earlier comments on Mel Gibson.

I truly do feel bad for him and his struggles with alcohol. I hope he gets the help he needs in rehab. I also hope, he's able to rehabilitate his less than enlightened thoughts on Jewish people. I'm all about forgiveness and second chances.

That doesn't make his racist comments any less insidious or evil, though, or make me feel bad about taking an acerbic tone in discussing him

Back around the time the Passion of The Christ came out, I heard Gibson on Sean Hannity's radio program. He was talking about how the liberal media and Hollywood treated him unfairly because they didn't like his message or the fact that he was conservative and a Christian. I tend to roll my eyes at phrases like "the liberal media" anyway, but now to couch his whole "Waagh, someone's being unfair to my rich white ass" comments in the context of his apparent anti-semitism, makes them sound even more ridiculous.

And yeah, I know he was drunk when he said that stuff. I've been around a lot of drunk people in my life, though, and I've never seen one magically turn into a racist after a few drinks.

Fred is the yin to my yang.
