Last January I made a decision to clean up some messes in my life. Specifically, I decided to get out of debt. I had two credit cards and a truck payment. One of the credit cards was pretty small - eight hundred dollars, or so. I paid it off with some savings and some Christmas money. The other one, though, was a little bigger - $5,500. It was left over from my marriage. I'd been carrying it around for something like ten years, only paying the minimum balance.

I'm happy to announce that today, eight months after I buckled down and started working on it, I'm mailing out my last payment on that second card:


Now I start on the truck. If I'm doing my math right, I should have it paid off in about nine months.


Congratulations!!!! Now you should have plenty of cash to buy my beers tomorrow night!!!

Seriously, I'm happy for you on this achievement.

I paid off my truck back in January, and I gotta say it felt phenominal.  


Thanks guys. Once I pay everything off I'll buy you presents. And by "buy" I mean "steal." And by "presents" I mean "legs from the prosthetic limb store."
