Should I know who or what AJ is?

i'm ashamed to even think that I might possibly know this... but wasn't AJ one of those boy band guys... wasn't one of them from KY?

I'm ashamed of you too, Scott. However, I don't think the one named AJ is from Kentucky. I think Ashley Judd makes the most sense. What doesn't make sense, though, is why Samuel Jackson would call her "AJ" and expect everyone to know who he was talking about.
