weekend
I can barely type this. The fingers on my right hand aren't doing what I tell them to do. More on that when I get to the Sunday listing.
Friday night was the rescheduled Over The Rhine concert at the Dame. The performance itself was really good, but events leading up to it left a little to be desired - as did the behavior of a lot of people attending the show. If you're at the Dame and you wanna talk - go to the back of the building! Don't stand with the crowd in front of the stage regaling your chubby friend, who for some reason, decided to wear a sun-dress out in single digit temperatures, with stories about how your other friend Becky is totally a bitch. Some of us came to hear the friggin' show!
Saturday, Sara and I braved the temperatures to go have breakfast at Hannah's On Lime. We hadn't been there in a while. The food is still awesome. Best breakfast in Lexington. After Breakfast we went back to her house for a bit to celebrate her grandmother's birthday and then we headed off to St. Awesome's. My friend Dave and I were shooting footage for St. Awesome's soon to be refurbished website. We got some good stuff. After that Sara and I got some dinner and, watched the unviewed contents of her DVR and then I headed home to make some food for an upersay owlbay party (Can the NFL sue me for referencing their copyright in Pig Latin?).
Sunday it was back to St. Awesome's for more shooting. After that I grabbed some lunch and then returned to St. Awesome's for the first day of the new Volley Ball season. I'm on a team with Vlad, GG, Dirty, No Nick Name Fred (who couldn't make this game), a friend of Vlad's named TJ, and another guy named Joe. We were assigned the team name "Tree Squirrels." I don't think anybody was particularly thrilled with the name but we made the most of it by coming up with the team slogan "Watch your nuts." Our slogan didn't help our performance, though. We played something like ten games and lost every one of them. Oy. Also - apparently d0dge ball requires the use of hand muscles that I don't use regularly - because since last night, my two little fingers have been shaky and unresponsive. I can actually feel the tendon that runs up through my arm into them throbbing slightly. I am old and infirm.
After dodge ball, Dirty and I headed out to GG's for a Super Bowl party (sorry I don't' have the energy to keep up the Pig Latin joke. Bring it on entertainment lawyers!). It was fun. There was lots of food and lots of little kids running around. GG's oldest kid told Dirty and I that it was time for us to leave about five minutes before the game was over. We didn't take the hint. Bigger kids than him have tried to throw us out of places where we weren't wanted.
