men's weekend ky III
MWKYIII has come and gone and all that's left to do is post some pictures and clean the donkey vomit off my living room rug.
Friday night saw over a dozen Men's Weekend participants flood into Shamrock's on a quest for male comradery.
We played darts:

And Charley The Intern and I played a game where everytime one of us made a point we got to drop a dart as close to the other guy's foot as possible. GREAT IDEA!

The Colonel administered a pop-culture quiz at one point. Here's Mike giving thoughtful consideration to one of the questions:

Sam Handwhich met some ladies:

And Dirty met Tony The Tiger the $1000 a night wedding DJ:

There was some collar popping. I forget why.

of course JC Samsonite didn't quite get the concept:

All in all Friday was an awesome opportunity for a bunch of guys to hang out and have a good time together:

We tried to end the night with a recreation of "hands in" picture from last year. It looked good except for whatever idiot there on the right thought he was supposed to make a fist...

Saturday our number shrank to about half our original size. First thing in the morning, Dirty made us steak and eggs for breakfast:

We played Guitar Hero and Charley played Banjo Hero:

During the day we bummed around my place, went to Penn Station, and to a comic book store. We also watched a DVD copy of 300. Don't ask me where it came from, I have no idea.
Later that night we went to the Movie Tavern for dinner and an eight o'clock showing of Knocked Up. Only about half of us got our food. Those who got their food got it for free because it came out ten minutes before the movie was over. Those of us who's food never came got JACK SQUAT. It was not a good experience. I won't say I'll never be back, but if I do go, it won't be soon. After the movie we went back to Shamrock's for about an hour then to Patchen Pub to see favored bartender Mike. We played Fooze Ball and saw a fight. No pictures of the fight:

Sunday morning we got up and headed out to St. Awesome's for the 11:15. After the service we had a cookout. Wives, girlfriends, and children were invited to join us. We were also joined by the St. Awesome's dream team: Glen and Greg. After most everybody cleared out Dirty, JC, and I bummed around the church for a while, killing time 'til JC's flight. We played Jenga on a glass table which made for a couple of weird pictures. We also talked to No Nick Name Fred and Glen while they were hanging out inside the baptistry during an open baptism event. I wish I had taken a picture of that.

Awesome weekend all in all. I ended up shaving my beard as per my contract with Dirty, but decided against rockin' the moustache. Here's a picture of me post beard and post haircut from Sara:

I don't generally lay around with sunflowers, but they were a gift for Sara, given by me in an attempt to apologize for some really jerky behavior on my part earlier in the day, so she wanted them in the picture, I guess.
Thanks everybody, see you next year.
Wow...first one to post. What an honor!
I had a great time this weekend. Always a good time hanging out with you all in your element. I really gotta stop taking shots when Dirty buys them.
Patrick, thanks again for the hospitality. Guys, great seeing all of you and great meeting some of you for the first time. Looking forward to next year and hopefully October for the Halloween party.
A good rule of thumb is to never accept anything Dirty offers you.
Also, glad you made it down man. Have you ever considered moving to Kentucky? I need someone to fix my internet connection every once in a while.
To be honest with you, I have thought about moving to Kentucky. Then I met you and that idea totally went out the window.
Also...did I leave a pair of socks on your couch? I usually put that down my pants at the airport. It always gets a laugh when I get frisked.
Wow James- you do the sock thing too?
The part of Men's Weekend I got to be involved with was awesome and at the same time made me lament that MWK only happens once a year.
Right now I feel like a kid a day or two after Christmas. The afterglow is fading and I'm realizing that the next one is 360ish days away.
If you guys could see me, you'd see a single tear rolling down my cheek...
Ahh, sorry we missed this prestigious annual event!! We were are mama-san buckley's house this weekend, but she wanted me to relay this message to you:
"Why you butt open?!?"
Hope to be able to do man-things next year.
MWKY was this past weekend?
Ahhh.......so many memories. If some of you who were there want to know what happened, you can ask me and I will tell you all about it.
Patrick- thanks for hosting. It was great. Just one question, where are some of the pictures that were taken?
And speaking of James, I hope you get a chance to come to KY for the Halloween trip. I have high expectations for your costume.
To answer your question, nobody wanted to see pictures of you in a diaper.
Yes- it appears the phrase "less is more" doesn't play out well at MWKY on several levels.
Touche.
