Making pickles

In the midst of my home renovations I decided to do a little something relaxing. Yeah, for some reason I find messing with food to be relaxing. I don' t know why.

Anyway, I've been wanting to try my hand at making pickles for some time now. When I saw the meat/produce market next to the body shop had little baby cucumbers I decided it was time to give it a try.

These four jars represent about a dozen pickles. Their sitting in a homemade brine that consist of water, vinegar, garlic, dill seeds, pickling spice, salt, sugar, and fresh dill sprouts. One of the jars also contains Tabasco, jalapeƱos, red pepper flakes, and cayenne. That jar is for Sara.

The jars went into the fridge where they'll sit for ten days, pickling. Check back in a week and a half for a full report on how they turned out.

Wait, you keep your pickle in a jar, that explains alot.

I erased three different responses before hitting "Publish" because none of them belonged on a family-friendly blog.
