the facelifting of ft. marriage

Started doing some little stuff to the house this weekend. We've got some bigger jobs that we're going to hire out, but there are plenty of little things I can be taking care of in the mean time.

For instance, the drains in the kitchen sink were really rusty and rough looking, so I replaced those. I've replaced drains before without much problem but the nuts holding both drains in place were frozen tight so it meant taking a drill and a hammer and basically cutting the drains out. Here's what the old drains looked like once removed:

And here are the new drains in place:

When I removed the old drains I realized the pipes under the kitchen sink were partially clogged and really gross - so I replaced those as well:
Plumbed

I installed new locks:

I hung a peg board in the shed out back:

And put together the grill I got for Christmas:

I also dug out a well around one of the crawl space vents, but forgot to take a picture of that one.

There's lots more to do. Like tearing up some old linoleum, replacing shower heads, and refinishing some floors - but we're trying to go slow and do it in an order that makes sense. More pictures and updates as they occur.

Welcome to hell- I mean the realm of home renovations.

Of course, you've been here before. Jen and I are just down the hall if you need us.

One serious piece of advice that has proved helpful to us is: WORK FROM THE CEILING TO THE FLOOR.

Sounds obvious, but it has kept us from dirtying our previous work. (Ex. Refinish ceilings before floors.)

Hey we have the same grill, LOVE IT!

Will you ever tell me where you live? (booohahahahahahaha)

okay, when in the world did you get a house?
