From the official website: "The Year of Living Biblically answers the question: What if a modern-day American followed every single rule in the Bible as literally as possible. Not just the famous rules – the Ten Commandments and Love Thy Neighbor (though certainly those). But the hundreds of oft-ignored ones: don’t wear clothes of mixed fibers. Grow your beard. Stone adulterers. A.J. Jacobs’ experiment is surprising, informative, timely and funny. It is both irreverent and reverent. It seeks discover what’s good in the Bible and what is maybe not so relevant to 21st century life. And it will make you see the Good Book with new eyes. Thou shalt not put it down."

I have almost bought this book 2-3 times now. Will have to pick it up sometime. Pulling an overnight at Children's Unit as my overnight staff member broke her toe and had to go to the ER. Wish I had the book to read with me. However, it is amazing how much you can get done between the hours of 3-5 AM with no patients, phone calls, or colleagues to interrupt you.
I've also almost bought this book before.
Looking forward to hearing what you think Patch.
You're both more than welcome to borrow it when I'm done.
I'm only about half way through it so far, but it's been a really enjoyable read. You kind of expect someone to take on a journey like this with an agenda in mind, but I've been really impressed with how open-minded Jacobs is about the whole process. It's really interesting to see how his actions, even when not motivated by any particular reverence for Judaeo-Christian traditions, end up affecting his heart and mind.
Even half way through I'd already recommend it.
patch -
i can't wait to read it -
thanks for the insight -
